“HIKARI Installation—‘The light shining Kaga future’”
What is HIKARI Competition?
Hotel ARROWLE, with the aim of “expressing Kaga culture”, will be hosting this competition jointly with RISA Partners Co. Ltd. This first-time competition is intended to look for the next generation talent, as well as to rediscover present and future Kaga traditional regional culture. The theme of submissions is “The light shining Kaga future”. The applicants are to freely find out Kaga culture from the viewpoint of “HIKARI (the light)” to decorate Hotel ARROWLE, which is where this competition will take place. About 10 works will be carefully selected from among the submissions, and then, JPY 100,000 of sponsorship will be offered to each work to be actually produced there. After lightning-up, JPY 200,000 will be awarded to the best HIKARI work, and 50,000JPY to excellent 2 HIKARI works each. Please submit your idea for the light shining Kaga of 21st century. We are waiting for your HIKARI design, which surprises not only judges and visitors but also people close to you such as your friends, family, and lover.
What is HIKARI Installation 2009?
A light festival, a light exhibition, titled “HIKARI Installation” is to be held from December 5, 2009 to January 10, 2010, at Hotel ARROWLE, aiming at achieving a great theme, “Expression of Kaga culture”, which entertains a lot of visitors. This exhibition realizes a festival of the light produced by young creators. This HIKARI Installation is to decorate the landscape of Hotel ARROWLE with beautiful lighting design. The “HIKARI” to be installed is the lighting works, which will be selected from among submissions for the competition.
Application Procedure and Provision
To apply for this competition, please develop ideas after reading carefully and understanding the application guidelines and competition summary.
1) Requirements for applicants are students studying architecture, art, design, etc., young creators (professionals and amateurs), who are between 18 to 30 years old.
2） Please download the “PDF plan & Installation Place” to create an image for decoration. Detailed information will be released accordingly after press release has been issued.

Please visit Hotel ARROWLE, which is where this competition will take place if time allows. Visitors can take a tour inside by November 23, 2009.
3) Please select your favorite HIKARI Installation place from among the Hotel facilities, for instance, in the garden, entrance, banquet lobby, parking, pond, chapel garden, in front of SPA, pool, etc., except guest rooms.
4) Please consider “the works should have a beauty, which does not spoil the landscape even during the daytime” and “the works should be weathertight and safe”. Fire use such as candles, fireworks, firecrackers is prohibited. Easiness of installation and functionality are also to be praised at the competition for the award.
5) LEDs, lights, light bulbs, recycled luminaires, image projection on a wall, etc., whatever materials can be used as long as fulfilling the requirements written in 4). Only power source is available at the Hotel.
6) Please submit the information and documents by PDF files (CD or DVD) and by printed document (A4 or A3 paper) as follows (no e-mail submission accepted);
(a) Name, address, phone number, e-mail address, personal profile
(b) Title of work
(c) Drawing for design (free scale), drawing, CG, model picture, collage, etc., which show the image of the work
(d) Explanation of design intent
(e) Necessary amount of electricity (ex, 100 of 60W incandescent lamps)
7) Sponsorship is JPY100,000, which will be given to each work selected from among the submissions. This sponsorship is assumed to be spent for materials or transportation expense.
８) Application will be accepted until November 24, 2009.
9) As the application period is only 30 days, the one who submit his idea might be the winner!
10) The competition result will be announced on the website of RISA Partners Co. Ltd. and Hotel ARROWLE on November 27, 2009.

Ideas of HIKARI (the light) are widely called for, which are to rediscover present and future Kaga traditional regional culture from the viewpoint of “HIKARI (the light)”. The selected HIKARI works are to be displayed at “HIKARI Installation—‘The light shining Kaga future’” exhibition for 1 month.

Sponsorship:
JPY100,000 for each 1 work, which has selected through documentary competition.
※If 1 applicant is selected for several works, sponsorship for the number of works will be offered.

Selected by the final examination
The best HIKARI award: for 1 work, JPY200,000
